SWINE FLU INFORMATION
We, along with all school districts in Santa Clara County, are working with the Public Health Department to be as pro-active about this situation as possible. As of noon 4/29/09, there is one probable case of swine flu in the County, a 16 year-old girl who was never hospitalized and is at home recovering. Based on this incident, the Santa Clara County Health Officer, in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, closed Branham High School starting today, April 29th. Santa Clara County officials continue to monitor this situation closely, testing all possible cases.

Symptoms of the Swine Flu (H1N1 flu) — temperature of 102 or higher, achiness, runny nose, coughing and a general feeling of being unwell.

The California Department of Public Health and Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommend following these flu prevention tips:

Cover your nose and mouth with a tissue when you cough or sneeze and throw the tissue in the trash after you use it.
Wash your hands often with soap and water, especially after you cough or sneeze. Alcohol-based hand cleaners are also effective.
Try to avoid close contact with sick people.
If you get sick with flu, it is recommended that you stay home from work or school
WASH YOUR HANDS
District staff will continue to monitor information from the Santa Clara County Health Department and share pertinent updates with you.

The committee for the Western Association for Schools and Colleges will be conducting its review of ACE on April 20-24, 2008. We have much to be proud of as the efforts of the students, teachers and staff continue to demonstrate the effectiveness of our adult education programs. This will truly be an opportunity to "Celebrate Our Successes"! More information will be posted to the WASC Central link as we move closer to the review dates.

Message from the Director

Dear Students and Community Members:

I am delighted to report that the Sunnyvale-Cupertino Adult and Community Education program’s revamped website is very successful! We encourage you to logon to http://ace.fuhsd.org and experience the many positive changes. Please take advantage of the link under the drop down menu “Contact Us” to locate our “Feedback Form.” This gives you an opportunity to share what you like about the ACE website as well as provides us with suggestions for future improvements. Please take advantage of our online registration process, too — it is fast and convenient.

We need your help! The Adult and Community Education (ACE) program will be participating in an accreditation process. The committee from the Western Association for Schools and Colleges will need input from our students and ACE staff. Please take a few minutes to complete one of the two surveys posted on the http://ace.fushd.org/survey/ website that matches your profile. We appreciate your participation in this very important process.

I want to again thank our community for continuing to pursue your life-long learning needs at the Sunnyvale-Cupertino Adult & Community Education program and look forward to seeing you in class soon.

Respectfully, Dennis Fresé. Ed. D.
